Those Guys perform at Launch Pointe for Live at the Lakefront

Launch Pointe drew a large crowd the evening of July 9 as Lake Elsinore’s Live at the Lakefront concert series continued with a performance by Temecula-based cover band Those Guys.

The band performed a mix of rock, funk and popular songs. Families spread out across the lawn with blankets and lawn chairs, while others danced near the stage.

This year’s concert series features a partnership with the Wanderlust Food Truck Festival, bringing food vendors to Launch Pointe alongside the weekly Thursday night performances throughout July.

For some attendees, the food trucks were part of what brought them out to the event. Cory Nakata and Terri Andrews attended the concert to support their family’s shaved ice truck, D’Vine D’Lights, while enjoying the music.

“We came last week, so we decided we wanted to come back again,” Nakata said. “It’s nice seeing other families having a good time. We loved watching the kids dance in the front.”

“It’s a good family-oriented event,” Andrews said.

They said events like Live at the Lakefront provide families an affordable way to spend time together.

“Just having an event that doesn’t cost the family an arm and a leg and you just get to hang out and enjoy yourself,” Nakata said.

Lake Elsinore resident Crystal Medina said she has attended the concerts for several years and enjoys spending summer evenings by the lake.

“I love summer and these are the events that kind of get me out of my house,” Medina said. “I love music, and it’s such a great event because it’s by the lake.”

She described the atmosphere as “chill” and “relaxed.”

“I think it keeps the community unified,” Medina said. “It allows us to build more memories with our friends and family.”

Christine Mosbacher said she and her family decided to stop by after hearing the music from their nearby home. She said the strong turnout was one of the first things she noticed after arriving.

“It brings the community together,” Mosbacher said. “It gives people something to do locally instead of having to drive farther out.”

Live at the Lakefront continues every Thursday in July at Launch Pointe from 6:30 to 9 p.m. with free concerts featuring different performers each week.

Upcoming performances include:

July 16 – Stone Soul: An eight-piece band performing classic soul, Motown and R&B favorites.

July 23 – Los Garza’z: A Latin music group featuring salsa, cumbia, Latin pop and dance hits.

July 30 – 90’s Station: A tribute band performing nostalgic songs from the 1990s.
