Elsinore High’s baseball team battled back from an early 4-0 deficit to score a 6-4 victory at Santa Margarita Tuesday in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs.
After tying the score at 4-4 in the 6th inning, the Tigers scored 1 more that inning and 1 in the 7th to improve their record to 22-3. They will be home on Friday against Ganesha (23-3-1), which scored a 5-2 win over South Hills.
Elsinore took the lead for good on a ground ball by Andrew Jimenez that went for an error, with Matt Frias scoring. Earlier in the inning, the Tigers had tied the game on an RBI single by Isaac Garcia. Tyler Willeford went 3 for 3 with 1 RBI. Robert Gates drove in 2 runs.
Tigers pitcher Jacob Farias pitched 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, for the win. Bryson Boyd pitched a scoreless 7th to get the save.
