Defending CIF-SS champion Elsinore will hit the road again on Tuesday to face Santa Margarita in the second round of the baseball playoffs.
The Tigers will take a 21-3 record into the game against the Eagles, who are 16-13 overall, in the Division 2 game. Elsinore won a tough 3-2 decision at Villa Park in the first round.
“SMHS is a very good team and plays in one of the best leagues in Southern California, so we have our work cut out for us,” said Elsinore coach Don Nicholson. “Our players welcome the underdog label, so we’ll go into the game ready to upset another higher ranked team. Our pitching is as good as anyone’s, so that keeps us close in games, and we hope to find ways to score.”
