A 25-year-old San Clemente man was injured Sunday morning in a solo motorcycle crash on Ortega Highway near Lake Elsinore, according to the California Highway Patrol.

According to Seel, the motorcyclist was traveling at an unsafe speed and was unable to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The motorcycle veered off the main portion of the roadway to the right and collided into a concrete K-rail. The rider was ejected onto a dirt and grass embankment.

The rider was transported to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo and is in stable condition, Seel said.

Traffic on Ortega Highway was stopped for about 20 minutes while emergency responders recovered the rider from the hillside, according to CHP.

CHP reminds motorists to slow down and wear proper safety equipment while riding.
