Elsinore Barber & Beauty was recognized as the city’s May 2026 Business in Action Spotlight by the Lake Elsinore City Council during the May 26 council meeting.
Economic Development Director Gina Gonzalez said the program recognizes local businesses that make an impact in the community beyond their daily operations.
Located on Main Street in downtown Lake Elsinore, the business was recognized for its customer service, community involvement and participation in the Downtown Merchants Association.
“More than just a barbershop and beauty business, Elsinore Barber & Beauty serves as a gathering place where residents connect, conversations are shared, and it’s more like therapy,” Gonzalez said. “The team at Elsinore Barber & Beauty takes pride not only in its work, but also continuing the character and sense of community that makes Lake Elsinore so special.”
Mayor Bob Magee also highlighted the history of the longtime barbershop, noting it was previously owned by former City Council member Fred Dominguez.
“You carry the torch very, very well, and we’re proud to recognize you here today,” Magee said to Elsinore Barber & Beauty owner Tina Breese.
Breese thanked her children, clients and supporters after accepting the recognition.
“I work really hard to get where I’m at and to show my children that no matter how hard life gets, you can always succeed if you’re determined,” Breese said.
Breese said she took over the business during the COVID-19 pandemic and has worked to continue its legacy in the community. In addition to salon services, she hosts an annual toy drive at the end of each year that has grown significantly.
“I started off with about 95 kids,” she said. “Now I have over 300 kids that show up, and I turn my shop into a toy shop.”
Breese said the shop has become a place where customers share important moments in their lives, from celebrations to grief.
“To see customers come back and say, ‘Hey, I got that job,’ or, ‘Hey, I passed that test,’ is a great feeling,” she said. “I always end up crying, but the ones that pass away, it’s heartfelt because I know sometimes I’m giving them their last haircut, and they’ve been with me for years.”
