Eastbound Riverside Drive will be closed between Lake Crest Drive and Lincoln Street beginning Sept. 9 as the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District continues sewer improvement work.
The closure will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. One eastbound lane will reopen at 5 p.m. and be open on weekends, according to EVMWD.
Westbound Riverside Drive will remain open, and sewer service will not be interrupted.
As a detour, drivers traveling eastbound should use Grand Avenue to Machado Street, to Lincoln Street, and to Riverside Drive.Â
EVMWD said drivers should allow extra time for their commute, follow posted detour signs and use caution when traveling through the work area.
“Thank you for your patience as this important infrastructure work continues,” EVMWD said.
The work is part of EVMWD’s Riverside Drive Sewer Improvements Project. According to EVMWD, the existing sewer infrastructure in the area is aging and requires increasing maintenance. The project includes installing a new gravity sewer pipeline and removing an older lift station to improve the reliability of the sewer system and reduce long-term maintenance needs.
