The 13th annual Dream Extreme Fishing Derby will take place on May 16 at Launch Pointe Recreation Destination & RV Resort, bringing anglers together for a day of competition and prizes.
The event will run from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a banquet and awards ceremony. Teams of one or two people can compete for $10,000 in cash and prizes across five fish categories, including bass, catfish, wiper, crappie and carp.
Entry costs $120 per team and $60 per individual. Online registration is open through May 12, but registration must be completed by May 1 to receive a T-shirt and lunch for each team member.
Fishing must be done from a vessel, including boats, kayaks, jet skis, float tubes or stand-up paddle boards. All team members must fish together in the same vessel.
Mayor Robert Magee encouraged residents to participate during a recent City Council meeting.
“Come on out,” Magee said. “We had nearly 100 people registered last year. It’s a good time.”
Magee also highlighted the 10th annual Councilman’s Catfish Challenge, where the first registered angler to bring back a live catfish earns a $100 prize.
“Take $100 away from me and have a good time fishing on our lake,” Magee said.
Participants must weigh in their fish by 2 p.m. at the Launch Pointe weigh station. All fish must be weighed by the deadline, or they will be disqualified.
The derby will also be broadcast on Angler Chronicles on Bally Sports West for those who want to watch at home.
