The Lake Elsinore community will step back in time during Lake Elsinore History Days on Saturday, April 25 in the city’s historic downtown.
Organized by the Lake Elsinore Historical Society, the event will take place along Main Street, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with a non-motorized parade. The main festival will run from noon to 5 p.m.
The annual event focuses on the city’s history while bringing residents downtown for a mix of exhibits and activities. This year’s celebration recognizes 135 years of schools in Lake Elsinore, with the parade organized by the Lake Elsinore Unified School District.
“We have a great downtown here,” Mayor Pro Tem Timothy Sheridan said at a recent city council meeting. “A lot of great restaurants and some great shops. On that day, April 25, you’re going to be able to learn some Lake Elsinore history. We were chartered in 1888, so we’ve been around for a long time.”
Attendees can expect live music, historical- themed entertainment, games and vendor booths set up throughout Main Street. A car and bike expo featuring vehicles from different decades is also planned. Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour local historic sites, including the Chimes and Crescent House.
The Western Science Center will also attend the event with its mobile museum, featuring replica fossils and hands-on exhibits.
A costume contest is set for 3 p.m. at the Chimes building, where participants are encouraged to dress in clothing from different time periods.
The event is free and open to the public.
