The alt-pop singer known as D4vd has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of a Lake Elsinore girl whose body was found last year in a car registered to him, authorities said.

The 21-year-old singer, whose legal name is David Burke, is being held without bail and is expected to face formal charges on Monday, according to an announcement by the Los Angeles Police Department on Thursday. He will be charged with killing 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose decomposed body was found on Sept. 8, 2025 in thre trunk of a Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard some time after it had apparently been abandoned in a neighborhood in the Hollywood Hills.

The girl’s family had reported her missing from her home in Lake Elsinore in 2024, when the girl was 13. D4vd has been a person of interest since last year, when the girl’s brother said in an interview with NBC-TV that she was last seen with the singer. The Associated Press reported in February that the singer was the subject of a Los Angeles County Grand Jury investigation.
