LEUSD continues to expand opportunities for high school students to earn college credit while still in high school. Dr. Ron Pirayoff, Director III, Secondary Curriculum & Instruction, highlighted recent progress in the District’s dual enrollment program. The update focused on the academic and long‑term benefits of dual enrollment, including increased college participation, reduced time and cost to earn a degree, and greater confidence as students transition to postsecondary education.
Highlights included progress toward a new three‑year California Career Access Pathways (CCAP) agreement with the Coastline Community College District, as well as expanded partnerships with Golden West College and Orange Coast College. These partnerships broaden course options, provide greater flexibility, and support customized pathways aligned to student interests and career goals.
This year, all five comprehensive high schools have students enrolled in college courses, and LEUSD launched its first CCAP course in Personal Finance, supported through collaboration between college faculty and LEUSD teachers.
Looking ahead, the District plans to expand college course offerings at each high school and launch the Keith McCarthy Academy (KMA) Early College cohort in Fall 2026, giving students the opportunity to earn significant college credit—and the opportunity to earn an associate degree—while completing high school.
