District 1 Councilmember Brian Tisdale, District 3 Councilmember Timothy J. Sheridan and District 4 Councilmember Michael Carroll were issued nomination papers July 13, the first day of the nomination period for the Nov. 3 Lake Elsinore City Council election.
Seats representing District 1 and District 3 are up for full four-year terms, while the District 4 seat is up for a partial term.Â
The District 4 seat is a partial term because former Councilmember Natasha Johnson resigned during the first half of her term after being elected to the California State Assembly. Councilmember Michael Carroll was appointed to fill the vacancy, and voters in November will elect someone to serve the remainder of the original term, which ends in 2028.
The nomination period runs through Aug. 7. If an incumbent does not qualify by the deadline, the nomination period for that seat will be extended through Aug. 12, according to the Lake Elsinore City Clerk’s Office.
Being issued nomination papers is the first step in the filing process. Candidates must return the required paperwork before they can qualify for a place on the Nov. 3 ballot.
The city will update its online candidate filing list throughout the nomination period to show when candidates are issued nomination papers, file their paperwork and qualify for the ballot.
