Flix on the Field brings families to Diamond Stadium

A free movie night at Diamond Stadium drew a good turnout Friday night, Sept. 25, as families came out to watch “The Goonies” together.

This was the second Flix on the Field event at Diamond Stadium. The first featured a screening of “Jurassic Park” on Aug. 28.

The movie started at 8 p.m. and was shown on the stadium’s outfield video board with stadium sound. Most attendees sat on the field, where families spread out blankets and kids ran around and played before the movie started. People also took seats in the stadium stands to watch the movie.

Concessions were also open throughout the night, with attendees stopping by for snacks and drinks.

Lake Elsinore resident Carla Torres said she saw the event on Facebook, and after not being able to attend the first Flix on the Field, wanted to make sure she made it to this one.

“I think it’s great to have an event where we can bring the family that’s free, because, you know, going out and doing stuff can get pricey now,” Torres said. “Events like this let us have fun and not worry a lot about the cost.”

She said Diamond Stadium was a good setting for an outdoor movie.

“I think this is a good place for it because you got the big screen out on the field and you can sit wherever you want in the stadium, so it’s really cool,” Torres said.

Another attendee, Joe Ellis said he came to the event to spend time with his grandchildren.

“I think it is amazing,” he said. “Get to watch a good classic movie and the kids get to run around on the field. Just a good time for family fun.”

Ellis said he’d like to see more community events like this.

“It’s a fun way to spend time with your family and just enjoy a good evening outside,” he said.

Diamond Stadium plans to host more Flix on the Field events. They post information about upcoming events on social media and the Diamond Taproom website.
